SCA Area Business Continuity Survey (Summer 2025)

In July 2025, as part of community preparedness planning, EPSG leadership conducted a survey of grocery stores, pharmacies, and gas stations within the vicinity of Sun City Anthem. The goal was to identify which businesses would be open in a widespread power outage. The following results were obtained:


  • Of the 13 stores that sell grocery items, only 3 (Walmart and two Targets) could stayopen, with Costco, Vons, and Albertsons staying open only for a short time.


  • Of the 8 pharmacies, only 1 or 2 expect to have power to stay open.


  • Of the 16 gas stations, only 2 gas stations (one at Costco, and another, Chevron, atRaider Way& Volunteer) would be open on battery power, but only for a few hours.


  • For sheltering, both The M and Green Valley Resort would stay open. (Note: SCA centers are NOT designed to operate as shelters.)


Results of the survey indicate that most stores do not have emergency power to stay open, and those who can, can operate for limited amount of time. (for details of the survey please click here)
